Past-
As a senior I was put into a class called Target Teach. In this class I received a mentor teacher who taught me the ways of being a teacher and allowed me to teach lessons in her classroom. My mentor teacher was Mrs. Gakos who was a kindergarten teacher. She helped me decide that being a teacher is what I want to do for the rest of my life. The moment I knew I wanted to be a teacher was on the last day. The students all made cards for me and would not stop hugging me because they did not want me to leave. I will never forget that group of kids or my mentor teacher who was also my third grade teacher. Mrs. Gakos made a huge difference in my life and I learned to be educated one has to learn from experience and a role model.
Present-
When I took my first elementary education class in college. I loved my teacher and could relate so much of the new material back to my experience with Mrs. Gakos. My college professor taught me the informational side of being a teacher. I now look back at things such as the arrangement of a classroom and understand the meaning of it. Everything has a purpose and Professor Everett taught me that to be educated means to have a role model and understand the meaning behind everything.
Future-
When I get my first teaching job. The first day of school will be hectic and crazy but also so rewarding. That is when all of the things my two teachers taught me will come into place and when I see my class come in for the first time I will know that this is where I belong.
